The MRCE Career Development Award in Biodefense and Emerging Infectious Diseases (EID) Research supports intensive research and career development under the guidance of an experienced mentor, or sponsor, specializing in biodefense or EID research. Awardees must be able to devote 80% of their professional effort to the program. The award provides 2 ½ years of support of up to $72,000 per year.

WHO CAN APPLY?

  • This program is intended for senior post-doctoral or junior faculty (instructor to very early assistant professor level) whose intended career goals include developing long-term academic research programs in the field of biodefense or EID research.
  • Awards are limited to investigators within Public Health Region VII (MO, IA, NE, KS) and Cleveland, OH. Preference will be given to candidates with research plans related to the MRCE's core research themes.

FELLOWSHIPS

  • Up to 2 ½ years of funding at up to $72,000 per year
  • Fellowship awards are made to the mentoring institution, and not to applicants. Salary and fringes will match the mentor's current institutional rate.
  • Invitation to all MRCE-sponsored seminars and scientific meetings.
