Associate Director, Emergency Response Planning
The mission of the MRCE Emergency Response Plan is to provide technical, scientific and clinical expertise regarding biodefense-related and emerging infectious diseases to Region VII (MO, IA, NE, KS and the Cleveland, OH metro area) public health agencies and healthcare providers to aid in both preparedness planning and biologic threat emergencies. Dr. Steven Lawrence, M.D., M.Sc., (Washington University) is the MRCE Associate Director/Emergency Response Coordinator. Dr. Lawrence, who was one of the MRCE’s first career development award recipients, has expertise in biodefense research, public health, epidemiology, and infectious diseases. The Associate Director/Emergency Response Coordinator reports directly to the Director of the MRCE. The Emergency Response Plan will be evaluated annually by questionnaires administered to participating public health and healthcare partners and reviewed by the MRCE Steering Committee.
