The MRCE supports 10 ongoing strategic research projects. These projects are similar in size to a traditional NIH R01. They are multiyear awards for work which show great promise for helping in the NIAID biodefense and emerging infectious diseases research effort. Nine of these projects contribute to the MRCE research theme geared at understanding the Innate Immune Response to Priority Pathogens. The tenth project is a devoted to identifying New and Emerging Viruses, the second theme of the MRCE.
